The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo has directed the ministry of finance to pay an amount of US 45,000 to legendary boxer, Mr David Kotei , popularly known as D.K. Poison on compassionate grounds.
During the reign of Col. Ignatius Kutu Acheampong, the former head of states convinced the boxer, who had won some dollars from his boxing career , to lend the country $45,000 to import mackerel to help alleviate poverty. The boxer after lending to the government was still yet to be refunded.
On 18th September 2019, President Akufo Addo promised to settle the debacle surrounding the matter and finally bring to rest the monies Ghana owed the 69 year old boxer.
Keeping to his words, the president has ordered the finance ministry to refund the boxer his money.
