Ghanaian comedian turn radio host, Afia Schwarzenegger has added her voice to the numerous celebrities who are calling on the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) to rescind their decision concerning alcoholic beverages using celebrities to advertise their products.
In 2015, the (FDA) banned Ghanaian celebrities from advertising alcoholic beverages.
The FDA said at the time that the ban was not only in adherence to a World Health Organization policy but was part of efforts to protect children and prevent them from being lured into alcoholism.
In an attempt to comply with the directive, alcohol producing companies like Adonko have started engaging the services of Nigerian celebrities and influencers to advertise their products.
This has infuriated Ghanaian celebrities like Tic Tac and Wendy Shay, who have called on the authority to reverse their directive.
New to add her voice to the call is Afia Schwarzenegger. She however wasn’t nice at the authority as she called on them to rescind their decision.
According the actress, Ghanaian celebrities weren’t used in advertising for the use of tramadol but it still gain prominence in the country. She added that, the authority shouldn’t blame celebrities for the wayward behavior of their children.
