The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and Incas Diagnostics, a diagnostics company based in Kumasi has developed a Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) for Covid-19 Treatment.
This is to assist the current Covid-19 testing procedures in the country. This they say is in line with (2) of Ghana’s objective to curb the virus, contain the spread of the virus and deepen self reliance.
The test which uses a finger-prick blood in a lateral flow format similar to pregnancy test detects two(2) different kinds of antibodies produced by the body to fight of Covid-19 about 7 day’s after the infection and also to those who have been exposed to the virus but does not show any symptoms or recovered from the infection.
