Ghanaian businessman, Dr. Kofi Amoah has reacted to the government decision to appoint Kwame Sefa Kayi as a board member of National Petroleum Authority.
The ace broadcaster and Peace Fm’s krokroko morning show host was appointed by President Akufo Addo to help set and implement the objectives and goals of the authority.
He will serve four years alongside Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, Dr Joseph Addo Yobo and others. His appointed however has attracted varied reactions from Ghanaians from all walks of life, notably among them is Dr. Kofi Amoah.
According to Dr. Amoah, the appointed of Kwame Sefa, who is also a renowned journalist shouldn’t have been made in the first place. He also added that, Mr. Sefa Kayi shouldn’t have also accepted the offer.
Explaining his reasons, the former head of the government GFA liaison team opined that, in a democracy, the executive, judiciary, legislatures and media are separate entities and that, one branch should not do anything to compromise the other.
“Mr Sefa Kayi, Ghana’s celebrated journalist, was appointed by the President to the board of the National Petroleum Authority for which he has accepted In our present “corruption-challenged” Ghana, the appointment should not have been made nor accepted An independent Media pls” he tweeted
“In a DEMOCRACY, the Executive,Parliament, Judiciary n the Media are separate and one branch must not do anything to compromise the functions n duties of another The Executive is the Policy, Operating n Spending branch It must be checked n must not compromise another!!!“
