Ghanaians on social media have gone berzerk over news that multiple award winning rapper, Sarkodie and Dblack have been scammed an equivalent of ghc 1,000 each for a UN award.
Not long ago, Sarkodie and Dblack among others were honoured for their excellent in their respective fields. TV3 news anchor and presenter, Berla Mundi was part of the individuals honoured with the fake awards and citation.
What the celebrities failed to know was, the said Kwame Owusu Fordjour who awarded them the awards was a known fraudsters, whose modus operandi is to solicits money from unsuspecting clients in exchange for international awards from the UN.
In 2010, the same Kwame Owusu Fordjour used the same method on the
Officials of the Association of Rural Banks (ARB) Apex Bank Limited in Accra.
Fordjour was alleged to have written a letter to 40 rural and community banks asking them to pay GH¢200 each as participation fee and to submit 10-minutes documentary of their projects to commence publicity on various media networks as a prelude to the event.
Fast forward 2020, Mr Kwame Owusu Fordjour has used the same method to defraud our A-list celebrities.
This one was made known by one Twitter User with handle @elvinnicks. Elivin Nicks in one of his recent post on Twitter revealed the real identity of the guy behind the award scheme with a video to back his claims that indeed the man is a fraudster.
This is the so called Dr. who is going around awarding directors, chiefs and our stars in the name of UN and Kofi Annan when the UN doesn’t know him. he tweeted.
