Ghanaian midfielder and popular Chelsea FC legend, Michael Essien has deleted his Instagram post calling for equality among the LGBTQI group.
Yesterday, Michael Essien and other international stars threw their support behind the LGBTQI society in Ghana calling for an end to the hate against the group. The midfielder also called for the protection of the group and its right. Among the celebrities who joined in this venture was Idris Iba and Naomi Cambel.
“We see you, we hear you, we support you. Our LGBTQIA plus Community in Ghana #ghanasupportequalityGH,” he wrote.
But within minutes of making his feelings known on Instagram, the 38year footballer page was flooded with hate speech, insult and scalding remarks.
Essien immediately coiled in, raised his hands up and threw in the towel. He gave up minutes into his new fight of calling for equality.
Perhaps, the “bison” as he was affectionately called thought calling for equal right for the less privileged was a jolly ride. The LGBTQI+ group feel ashamed and betrayed. In Michael they saw a hero but have been reduced no zero by his antics.
Michael Essien took the challenge but gave up when the battle started. His guts were shaken and he was found weak.
